Co-op Members Donate £1225

2nd May 2017

A massive £1,225 has been raised for the Bradford North Foodbank by Co-op members over the past 6 months, money that will be used to purchase items which are low in stock, as well as essentials items not readily thought of in a food parcel, for example toilet rolls, cleaning products and laundry powder. We issued 1,173 food parcels in 2016, so it is safe to say the money will be put to good use providing support for local people.

Back in September 2016, the Bradford North Foodbank was chosen to receive funding from the Coop Community Fund in the BD2 and BD10 areas. The fund works by donating 1% of members spend on Co-op branded products and services to local causes, and members can choose which cause their contribution goes to.

Volunteers from the foodbank attended the Harrogate Road store to collect their cheque, and were greeted by a celebration and some delicious baking, a big thank you to Jenny, Steve and the Co-op team.

Our partnership with the Co-op doesn’t end there – for the next 6 months we will be one of the local causes for the BD18 area, and the process starts again with members in those stores. The Bradford North Foodbank operates a centre in Shipley and supports people in that area, and are excited to once again be part of this community fund.
