Coronavirus Safeguarding Procedures at our Foodbank Centres

Given the current situation with the Coronavirus pandemic and the constantly evolving situation around the information and measures that are being suggested by government and health professionals we need to heed the advice being given to help safeguard all our volunteers and clients at this time by putting in our own safeguarding measures in place.

From Monday 16th March 2020, until further notice, the following measures will apply:

  1. Clients attending any of our Foodbank Distribution Centres must have a voucher issued by a Referral Agency.  Any specialist dietary requirements (e.g. gluten-free, vegetarian) should be written onto the voucher.
  2. No ’emergency’ vouchers will be issued at any of our Foodbank Distribution Centres.
  3. Clients should present their voucher at the entrance, but will not be given access to the building.  This is to greatly reduce the risk of cross contamination/contraction of the virus.
  4. A food parcel will be prepared promptly and issued at the door.

We need to do this to ensure we are taking the greatest precautions possible to safeguard both clients and foodbank volunteers from the risk of contracting the virus.

This way we can still continue to serve those in need and reduce any risks of anyone contracting the Coronavirus.
